Under pressure most managers fall into one of four defaults: blaming another department, silently absorbing the delay, deferring the decision, or escalating without data. Only the last one becomes useful when it carries facts.
Self-awareness means catching your default within the first minute, stating the facts (approval date, hours lost, current DHU) and then deciding — instead of reacting first and explaining later.
