The critical path is the longest sequence of dependent tasks that determines the earliest possible ship date. Any delay on that path delays the order; tasks off the path usually absorb slack. For a garment manager, the path runs enquiry → feasibility → proto/PP approval → fabric and trim in-house → cutting → sewing → finishing → final inspection → shipment. Time spent on non-path tasks feels productive but does not recover lost days.
